Textiles: SOPHIA
SASHIKO fabric
Sophia has an air of the Byzantine - its jacquard motif is reminiscent of the rich, decorative forms of Turkey and the Near East. The weave structure of the textile gives its face a mottled, encrusted effect - giving it the appearance of an authentic Eastern antique. Each colorway is actually two colors, varying between tone-on-tone or striking contrasts. Sophia was also the recipient of the Good Design Award from The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in 2003.
